The Earth has about 10 billion people (rounding). The US has about 500 million people and about 2 million military personnel.
The republic has at least 1 million planets so I'll go with that. Let's be generous and say that the average star wars planet has 1b people on it (farm worlds and barren rocks are included but so are ecumenopolises). This would mean that the Republic has 100,000x more people than the US so an equivalent fighting force for it's size would be 700 billion military personnel maybe 200-300 billion of which would be clone soldiers.

Likewise, there are roughly 500 ships in the US navy, 10 of which are aircraft carriers, roughly 100 are escort ships, and another 100 are ground support/transport ships. That's one ship per 4,000 personnel. This would mean that the Republic should have roughly 175,000 space warships not counting fighters, 3500 of which should be carrier equivalents (like the Venator) and 35000 of which should be each of planetary invasion ships (acclamators) and escorts (blockade runners, gun ships, arquitens etc.).

The numbers can vary and I'd even give this some slack if they shaved a whole 0 off those numbers because this was supposed to be an unprecedented age of peace (3000 years) and most of the world are self governing and protecting so many of those ships would be in this hands a planetary governments and corporations (like the Kuat defense fleet and the trade federation). But, they didn't. The number of clones 40,000 times under the approximation. For carriers, it's 140 time under the approximation (and I swear I saw more than 25 Venators in episode 3)

Lastly, I'm using your numbers for the "canonical" size of the fleet because I could not find it anywhere.

One of the problem of Star Wars is that laser are just so damn weak.
Like,Leia was lightly burned when hit in The Return of the Jedi.
And if we dismiss this occurence and use the fact a typical blast can melt metal, a blaster still seem way weaker than a lasgun that can,if I recall correctly, make big holes in concrete and blow off an arm.
The only way to correct the power disparity seem to assume that blaster round are specially made to penetrate armors instead of destroying it or the target.

I feel really good about continuing to listen to this your speech at the end about how things are going makes me feel like this is something I can enjoy I may be a massive Star Wars nerd but I have a healthy respect for 40k and your brief though opinion on the series as we became Cathulu was a really cool interpretation in my humble opinion. “We will watch your career with great interest” I want to say more but I’ll just get cozy and enjoy the burning of my favorite fictional universe

Broski the Contrast of ideologies is what I find to be so gripping and you do a masterful job of showing how where the Star Wars Galaxies maybe more technologically advanced for what they lack in advancement they make up for in their brutality on the Warhammer end that would honestly even the scales in my opinion in actuality so I'm really digging this

That is where you are wrong bucko! I am forced to admit that I did in fact became fans of star wars and 40k trough reading wikis. I was mildly aware of 40k and star wars and enjoyed some media before, but my interest where truly caught when I started reading trough the wikis.

100 spacemarines taking an average planet sounds absurd, maybe if we are talking about a fuedal world of humans only, like not even a knight world sure. However it often enough does not work that way, see tallarn for an example of mortals fending off marines, tank battalions and titans are no jokes even for them.

I hadn't really thought about it, but yeah, with millions of inhabitable systems, having only 7 million clones is pitiful. That's like, the amount you'd want for a single planet. 25 capitol ships? That's what you'd need just to secure a single highly important solar system, and even then it would be stretched pretty thin. Having actually given it some thought now, I'd say, you'd need at least 1 trillion clones, and probably around 100,000 capitol ships. If there are millions (that's multiple millions, not just 1 million) of inhabitable planets in the Star Wars galaxy, then in a war across the entire galaxy, you'd want at least 1 capitol ship for every ~100 solar systems with an inhabitable planet. 15,000 isn't even close to enough for that, it's hardly even getting close. Each capitol ship has at least a thousand clones on it, and that's severely low balling it in my opinion, so doing some simple math, just for the capitol ships, and nothing else, you'd need 100 million clones. Then take into account the planets where they are fighting, each of which need several thousand clones, and on really important planets, probably a few hundred thousand, if not a million, I think the 500 million clones suggested in the video is low balling the actual numbers needed. The consider that a lot of these numbers are going to be in far reaches of the galaxy, or entrenched in fights they cannot leave, or holding valuable positions, so they aren't really numbers you can pull from. They are effectively gone as far as reinforcements for any battlefront would be concerned. taking this into account, I'd have inflated the republic by more than double the amount suggested in the video, especially the number of capitol ships.

I love your work! Don’t ever think anything else, but I am disappointed with the final fight. It was like watching a Saturday morning cartoon. The space marine made many mistakes, he was unreasonably slow, and he didn’t think things through, were talking about a warrior with at least decades of experience and he didn’t think of the danger of a sniper. I know the space marines are human and can make mistakes but in this fight you, the writer, gave way too much plot armour to the Star Wars side.

It would have been more prudent if the space marine had severely wounded Anakin Skywalker and Anakin had managed to trap him underneath a building, so that way both warriors get away alive, but we see the danger that they see on each other.

AWAKEN MY QUIVERING ABS BEGINS TO PLAY AS I APPEAR IN A PLUME OF HOLY GOLDEN FLAMES
I AM MAGOS BIOLOGIST MAJOR JAGGER THE BANE OF TAU MCCUINN AND I HAVE ARRIVED TO SPREAD THE GLORY OF THE OMNISSIAH TO THIS COMMENTS SECTION ON BEHALF OF THE MECHANICUS AND THE IMPERIUM OF MAN!!

Okay so someone showed me this series today and it is a crime that it has slipped my attention for so long.
I do need to point out that a chapter of Astartes usually ranges from 1000 to 1500 marines. If you are the Black Templars you laugh at such silly ideas of limiting your fighting size and have a fighting force that ranges from 5000 to 10000 broken up so far across the galaxy the Inquisition has an aneurysm every time they try and do a head count.

I get your idea that the Marines are just as powerful that 100 is enough, but I need to point out what set off the War for Badab. The war was started due to three chapters of space marines withholding resources from the Imperium due to the Imperium refusing to give them reinforcements to expand the control of the resource autonomous zone.
I hope you sorta give the Marines their full numbers and unshackle them from the constraints of the Codex Astartes in the wake of a galaxy free from the corruption of Chaos, and the fact Star Wars DOES have weapons that can kill them. Obscure they may be.

For this episode I am iffy on it, I like it but there are some things I sorta laugh at. After Anakin kills the Marine with the decapitation, that didn't kill him.
His brain can in fact be recovered and put into a Dreadnought, to really kill a Marine you need to destroy the brain.

Not sure if Wrecker could in fact tackle a Marine in Mk VI or Newer pattern armor since the weight of those suits is enough to stop a modern Heavy freight truck.

The thing I love about this story is the feeling of dread you're able to illicit, knowing how powerful and deranged the imperium is and knowing that no such force has ever been present in the star wars setting. I'm also glad that the imperium isn't just stomping on every star wars character like they're nothing lol. Seeing them struggle and put up a fight while also reacting to the unhinged terror of the imperium is so satisfying. I would love to see how the Jedi react to the Warp and the ruinous powers of Chaos, seeing as both chaos and the dark side prey off of self destructive emotions. As a fan of both 40k and star wars this has been a super fun listen, your prose is excellent 👍

You said that nobody fell in love with Star Wars by going on wiki and that might be true for SW. However WH40k is completely different matter and I'm curious what you think on the topic and in this place it would be worth to mention that that was my exact way of falling in love with WH40k, I might be peculliar in that sense, as like surf wikis even of series I had no previous contact with, sometimes spoiling myself quite badly, and If I wasn't introduced to SW at a young age it is not impossible that would be the way I would start to enjoy the series.
(all of that be a pointless mumbling as the real question is, is the wiki relevent then, as that I feel is more in line with what you were talking about and in my opinion not really, or rather not if you have other more direct source, but I definitely see a use for it, but it would appear you do as well, so again pointless mumbling)

I've only just found your channel and this series, and am loving it. One thing I will say is from a pure writing perspective that this episode was a bit jarring. The series up to this point was limited third person, both sides only knowing as much as they should. The head of the Crimson Razors didn't know what the Acculamtors were called, for instance. This chapter - the fight between the Marine and Anakin especially - throws that away. This is a pure Third Person Narrative with the reader/listener knowing everything, even if it's not what either Jedi or Astartes does. Now, on its own this isn't a problem, but it did throw me off given how the writing had been limited prior to the fight scene. Just something to think about for your later projects.

In defense of George Lucas he was essentially copying our wars and trench warfare and stuff, just in space. The numbers are not good but back then he probably did not have access to the kind of info we got now.

The only thing so far I do not entirely approve off are when a space marine had his arm cut off instantly and with the helmet here in this chappy. I dont remember the name of the materials but space marine armor has the ability to absorb A LOT of heat. Probably not enough mind you but still enough that he should not have been able to cut through in a perfectly smooth swing. Maybe halfway or something before he loses momentum and then need to hack again?

You're a great writer.
Your version of things makes more sense than both star wars canon and 40k lore.
My only gripe is the power of lasguns and blasters relative to bolters, but that's a gripe i have with 40k far more than your writing.
The relationship between bolters and lasguns does not even begin to make sense, but I'll cut the ranting here.
Thanks again for the great story.

If I'm being honest though. 500 Million soldiers and 15,000 starships doesn't sound like a force with which to hold a galaxy. That sounds to me like a medium-to-large force which would be assigned to a single planet/system. Add another six zeros to both of those numbers.
