as a 14 year old cosplayer (who looks a little older), i would really recommend to follow the second tip seriously...... i cosplayed as Aoba from dmmd because i enjoyed the game, and also for the memes, and at a con tons of adults came up to have pictures with me, most were nice but some touched me weirdly without consent and some guy even tried to kiss my cheek, it was really weird! honestly its not my fault for cosplaying aoba more them for not asking consent but it still may have been an aspect in it!

Another thing to mention is to not get completely uncomfortable when someone looks you up and down, they might just be interested in your costume and want a closer look, but its still recommended to be safe with friends

one little addition to rule 3 from an underage cosplayer myself: make sure whatever adult you're bringing actually respects the cosplayers and the convention. some parents seem to think it's okay to just take pictures of people just walking around the con whenever they want or act rudely to cosplayers or staff for no apparent reason

Not tryna be mean, but these are just three opinions I wanted to share on the “Cosplay from age-appropriate media” thingy. It’s okay if you disagree with these opinions, because everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Everyone is different after all!

1 - Why are you “looking out for them” if you’re not their parent? And you’re not their legal guardian. You’re still technically a stranger to them, because you don’t know them.

2 - Just because they are cosplaying from an adult cartoon does NOT mean they will do NSFW things. I watched South Park when I was around 10-11, and I already knew not to imitate anything bad from the show.

3 - It’s their body. As long as they’re not wearing heavily NSFW things, it’s fine. If they’re cosplaying someone from Family Guy, South Park, etc, it’s totally fine!

ERMM Actually🤓👆, I haven’t met a person who talked to me about my cosplay. They only complimented me. They’ve never walked up to me and talk to me about the anime I was from

this was rlly helpful:D in my region we only have some conventions that are really small (Around 300 people usally) so as a 13 yr old attending i always feel Safe due to the lack of ppl and big numbers of different gaurds which is nice, the only thing i hate with being a younger cosplayer is that its hard to find different characters to Cosplay since im really short and cosplaying an adult would look weird :/

Hi! I'm a minor and I'm going to a convention for 3 days this summer but my mom don't think she can come with me the 3 days. I'll go with her one or two days, I'll go with my bf one day and maybe with friends one day if my mom can't come.
Is it ok? Is it safe to go only with my bf (minor) or with one or two friends (minors)?
If it's not safe I can tell my mom and she would come with me the 3 days but it would be a lot for her and I don't wanna force her to go.
Plus I would like some alone time with my bf and friends :3
