ОтветитьThis and Montague Terrace, It’s Raining Today etc are among the most luxurious listening experiences available in all music. Immaculate arrangement and recording and exquisite singing.
ОтветитьWhat is your all-time-favorite song ?
Plastic palace people !
Por dios que cancion lpm ❤
Ответитьwhy does this poem always remind of the Unamuno poem where a child looses a balloon which slowly drifts away on the either and that 'now rose now fell his joy'?
ОтветитьI luv this song, it really captures the atmosphere of the 60's how does a song recording do that? - magic!
Ответитьwalker observing his fellow men and women with a wry inside the fishbowl detachment.
ОтветитьGloriously strange behaviour. Perhaps not as strange as his late recordings....
ОтветитьSome people say “The Electrician” was the first indication of how Scott Walker’s music would sound later in his career. Maybe in terms of the way it sounds, sure, but I just heard this song, and the distinct contrast between verses reminds me very much of “Bouncer See Bouncer” from Tilt, not to mention the disturbing incident described in the lyrics is almost on par with anything from The Drift (if I’m interpreting the lyrics correctly). All the hallmarks were there, he just took them to another dimension later on. What an incredible piece of writing.
ОтветитьJoyau!!
ОтветитьIt was a true musical blessing the day i discoverd Scott Walker"s discography.
ОтветитьHaunting
Ответитьanyone know where the song came from? I had thought it was based on the Red Balloon, a french movie from the 50's but bringing in more modern day sensibilities in the more unusual reverb sections contrasting that carefree life with the current day. Can't find anything where Scott explained it.
ОтветитьThis song is like a whole romantic movie
ОтветитьI would assume the vocals in the chorus are being put through a Leslie Speaker?
ОтветитьWonderful
ОтветитьDisturbing, sweetness, brilliant, such a beautiful voice, Scott was talented beyond amazing! No words to describe him, if your soul can hear his art, it's all right.
ОтветитьLong ago I used to take a lot of acid and listen to Scott Walker .This was my favourite
Ответитьfantastic
ОтветитьWhat A Voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fit For The Gods
ОтветитьAlready one year ago. RIP Noël Scott Engel :-(
ОтветитьI really cant think of a more incredible song
ОтветитьI think this'll be on repeat in the waiting room, Heaven.
ОтветитьBeautiful man beautiful voice ❤️ RIP Scott 💔 This was definitely the start of sounds to come 👏
ОтветитьOver the rooftop sails Billy
A string tied to his underwear
Through cobbled stone streets a child races
And shouts "Billy, come down from there"
"My mother's calling" his voice whimpers
A string clutched in his tiny hand
Not till I've seen the sky's not lit up
In tears, child try and understand
Don't pull the string, don't bring me down
Don't make me land
Plastic palace people
Sing silent songs, they dream too long
Their memories just stare
Plastic palace Alice
She steals her cards tomorrow deals
With deafening despair
Hurry, you've got to get in line
Your nose might start to shine
And sweat it out and dance about
The whole eternal life
A harvest of stars surrounds Billy
The night clings to his happy eyes
A sleeping town square beneath a fountain
A child murmurs a weary sigh
My mother weeps, and weaves her hair
With worries please, Come down from there
Plastic palace people
Through fields of clay and granite grey
They play without a sound
Plastic palace Alice
Blows gaping holes to store her fears
Inside her lovers head
Listen, they're laughing in the halls
They rip your face with lies
To buzzing eyes you cry for help
Like gods they bark replies
Over the rooftops burns Billy
Balloon sadly the string descends
Searching its way down through blue submarine air
The polka dot underwear
To meet the trees, in morning square
Just hanging there, just hanging there
the words and music takes me somewhere a genius
Ответитьsuch an amazing voice. Sad that he often wasted it on pretentious inaccesable garbage like this. Scott 3 and Til the band comes in are his best albums and suffer less from his bullshit "artistry."
ОтветитьMy bucket list is forever incomplete with his passing.
Loved him from the first day I ever heard him sing in 1966.
Thought I'd get to see him one more time. RIP Scott.
The sun is out, the sky is blue.
There's not a cloud to spoil the view, but it's raining.
Raining in my heart.
Rest in peace, Scott.
This brings back memories. Superb. RIP Scott xx
ОтветитьGoodbye Scott - thankyou for your voice and your brilliance.
ОтветитьI wrote a short story on this incredible song. What a voice. Rest in peace fine soul.
ОтветитьRIP Scott :-(

ОтветитьRest in peace you absolute legend x
ОтветитьAnd Heaven gets another for its HALL OF FAME...……………..WE SALUTE YOU SIR !!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьJust so beautiful :-(
ОтветитьScott was an unbelievable talent. How fortunate we are.
Ответитьthis song is a whole new universe by itself.
ОтветитьHis Masterpiece.... beautiful... marvelous! brilliant! magical!
Ответитьshe's a good girl...
ОтветитьI was at The Songs Of Scott Walker, part of the BBC Proms at the Albert Hall last night. This was the second song in, after Boy Child, both sung by Jarvis Cocker, who delivered his own take on this. Nevertheless, the orchestra delivered an admiral performance of this haunting song's brilliant arrangement.
ОтветитьScott Walker was the epitome of cool, in demeanor and in his impeccable sartorial style.
ОтветитьMet a few of those people in my life
Ответитьadore this....
ОтветитьHe's a God
ОтветитьMy favourite song of all time.
ОтветитьThis man is beguiling in everything he does
