This is a great movie. I remember when CBS presented in the Spring of 1980. It is a very inspirational story. A legendary Detroit true story. Alex Karras was brilliant in this movie. The real Andre Reynolds is in the movie as well. Karras refers to him as "Bubba" The real Jimmy Butsicaris is also in the move. He is in the beginning of the scene dancing. He is wearing a Greek Fishermans hat and get up to dance.

Sadly in November of 2000 Andre was beat mercilessly by persons unknown.
He died in a coma never fully recovering from his wounds RIP

This is a great movie. It is very inspirational. I first watched it when I was 10 years old in 1980 and again in 1981. This movie makes me very emotional. I do cry and watching Andre trying to survive and help his mother. As a first generation Greek American, a lot of Greek Americans outside of Detroit do not know about this true story. I was saddened to hear that Andre got into trouble later in life and tragically died in 2000. His memory be eternal as he is reunited with Mr. Butsicaris in the Lords Gallery.
