Great effort and good simulations. Consistently confusing bearings and radials which makes it technically inaccurate and confusing for the student. It was not intercepting the 090 radial to the station he was intercepting the 270° radial tracking the zero Niner zero bearing TO the station. Terminology matters. There are not radials “to and from” the station, only radials from the station that you can track to and from the station. Sometimes explained as “you fly to the station by flying thru the station.”
ОтветитьI left MZeroA sometime ago, and I have solid reasons. However, Jason you cracked this one so well, thanks for sharing your knowledge. This is great!
ОтветитьI've never flown any aircraft but thid deems fun .
ОтветитьGreat stuff I always wanted to be a pilot but opportunities was found wanting
ОтветитьI am proud of you guys i am from a disaster prone country and we need young pilots since our prime minister is going to build an international airport. Grateful if we could have a nexus regarding the subject. Want to invest in school. Welcome and thanks in anticipation.
ОтветитьJason, why not fly to the VOR on that bearing then fly the radial 090? Why fly further than you have too?
ОтветитьI'm pretty sure that I watched another video somewhere that said that your bearing is the radial that you are currently on and the heading is the direction that you are traveling. You just said, unless I misunderstood you, that your bearing is the direction to the VOR station?? I'm confused.
ОтветитьJust started watching the video, gotta say, your channel has come a long way in 10 years lol jk.
ОтветитьThis video is SUPER helpful! Thanks for posting!
ОтветитьThat was actually the 270 radial To the station. In the video it's described as 090 radial but that would be in the green area.
ОтветитьIf you are less than 180 ° Add 180°
If you are more than 180° Minus 180°.
Excellent explanation - thank you. The simulation really helped make it understandable. That chart everyone uses doesn't.
ОтветитьThank you very much for the excelent class
ОтветитьCould you please let us know the name of this 2D IFR flight training simulator?
ОтветитьAwesome Jason. Love the instruction.
ОтветитьThis actually helped me so much! Wow, never been able to understand VORs/Radials until watching this video. Feeling a bit better about taking my PAR exam this coming week.
ОтветитьJason, you have a good method of explaining not only how but why. Still learning and looking for a good instructor. Thanks, Moye.
ОтветитьFabulous video
ОтветитьSeen better VOR tutorials. Needs to remain disciplined on VOR usage terminology. For instance, checkout VOR basics on " Free Pilot Training" YT Channel.
ОтветитьRemember kids. Bearing and heading are 2 different things. VORs care nothing about your heading.
ОтветитьCan anyone explain, in this example when reporting inbound to tower would I say that we are inbound on the 270 radial? Or 090 radial inbound?
ОтветитьHave mercy if someone today had to deal with NDB holding or approach work.
But on topic, I recall learning to VOR intersection hold with one VOR. Lots of cross tuning and those 5-T’s to stay the course.
Oh, and do it in a Huey with that damn greenhouse over head and the rotor flickering the Alabama sun.
No magenta back in 1989.
I am late, but here I have been tinkering with some old classic planes in the simulator where GPS isn't there for navigation and you are left with VOR only.
However I have never been able to grasp the concept of this until this video came along.
great thanks!!!!!
ОтветитьTune, Identify, Intercept, Track. Inbound = (Radial on the) Bottom =TO indication; Outbound = (Radial on the) Top=FROM indication. Cement this into your head. Not rocket science.
Ответитьfantastic explanation
ОтветитьThis is the best video for VOR interception and tracking it has made it a piece for f cake for me
ОтветитьWhat is the simulator? Both your lecture and this simulation helped to to figure out how to navigate in the space
Ответитьdude, thank you so much
ОтветитьBUT HE DID NOT ASK YOU TO GO TO 270. HE ASKED YOU TO GOTO 090....FAIL
ОтветитьBrilliant
ОтветитьThis didn’t help at all!
Ответить"The indication of a "FROM / TO" indicator of a CDI will shift from "TO / FROM" (and vice versa) when the value difference between the selected course and the measured radial passes WHAT in either direction."
So the answer is clearly 180 not 90
VOR tricky navigation made simple , thank you.
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьWhat software is this?
ОтветитьYou should get an award for this video...so helpful its crazy
ОтветитьVery educational
Ответить12 years alredy passed 😅
Ответитьwhat simulaton is this?
ОтветитьThanks...from Kenya,East Africa
ОтветитьWatching from my phone, I'm currently flying a 747 (with full passenger) right now and I have no idea how to land later. Wish me luck 👍
ОтветитьYeah this guy knows his stuff. Some many confusing videos out there.
ОтветитьThank you for this video!!
ОтветитьYou've been making videos for quite some time now, you're a baby in this one! Good job man, keep it up.
ОтветитьATC really loves it when a GA pilot knows and uses VORs for navigation. It relieves them of the task of focussing on a GA pilot who may need vectoring. When I reported my VFR position report with a Victor airway location tracking inbound or outbound on a radial ATC then knows that I'm a competent pilot who doesn't need any hand-holding. Also VOR navigation is satisfying and not that difficult with practice. All pilots should use VOR navigation as often as possible.
ОтветитьDude is so weird
ОтветитьYou explain it great😃 thank you
