Another nice overview, my friend. I really enjoy your content and the creative manner in which you intro your videos! As for the Dirac, it looks like a very handy and cool knife. I’ve been on a Microtech binge of late (I snagged two from Southern Edges), so I might just have to add one of these to the old shopping cart! 🛒🗡😉👍
ОтветитьExcellent work as always.
Have you seen/heard how these keep functioning after Heat/cold cycles with snow introduced to the action, or with moon dust covering it. Those would be what I'd be afraid of when taking non fixed blade with me.
I have this exact knife. It spoiled me to this front firing button.
I simply won’t buy another otf that doesn’t have it.
As much as I WANT to edc this knife, I cannot. The double edge makes it too impractical, ie, I cannot grip up on the back of the blade for detail work or better leverage.
If it was a single edge, non-Tanto, half serrated with no blade coloring this would be the ideal EDC.
(Maybe a tad bigger. And please, get rid of that gimmick “glass breaker”. It would nearly never be used and adds a half inch of useless sweater catching and conspicuousness. ).
TheKnifePenguin lol
ОтветитьYou never mentioned what knife steel you prefer on your Microtech. Bad Penguin! ;D Also totally unrelated. Have you tried any of Olights products? Specifically the Mini PL Valkyrie 2?
Also great review as always! :D
I just received a Microtech UTX-85 single edge My first OTF knife and love it. I also have a Protech Magic Whiskers BR-1. I like knives in this size class.
If you had pick a cover firing slider knife (sliding button on the face of the handle), which one would you choose? The Microtech Dirac or Benchmade Mini-Infidel? The Microtech Dirac is comparable in specs and is as low as ~$82 less than the Benchmade Mini-Infidel depending on the model. Which one is better in terms of performance, easy and butter smooth firing button action, resale, etc.?
Just got one and it's amazing I wear xl glove and was hesitant because of size and couldn't believe have comfortable and how smooth the action is. The contours on the handle fit like a glove in hand. Also with the way i pull it out of pocket my thumb goes right to the firing just amazing. And otf knife's i live double edge makes sense extremely surprised on how good the action and ergonomics of handle outstanding. For everyday cutting my ultra tech tanto is my mane cutter. But for this model love double edge and now want delta in double edge serrated.
ОтветитьShopping Microtech now. I carry a BM 417 Fact for my R.O.B knife now but am crushing hard on these autos. Need to put my hands on some local. My big hands combined with a habit of thumbing the top edge suggests I'll need to make sure I have enuf handle for a dual edge! Does Microtech re-sharpen serrations? Thru warranty or by aftermarket retail? Many manufacturers won't (🦋) and I dont want to ruin mine learning how. That'll effect choice... and quantity. Thanx for the scoop!
ОтветитьDoes the switch on the front cause discomfort in the pocket relative to the Ultratech style?
ОтветитьLove this knife, except for the dagger blade. Although it looks awesome, a double sided blade is completely impractical. A drop point or clip point is just as good as a defensive knife as a dagger blade. As soon as they come out with a drop point version of this, it might be the greatest OTF available. My UTX 85 currently holds that title.
ОтветитьA single edge blade would not jive well with the top firing action, it would be too weird in the hand, the ultratech is perfect for the single edge, the reason for the top firing on the dirac is specifically for the double edged blade.
I have the dirac delta, stonewashed blade in m390 steel, full serration, this is my EDC for self defense, i absolutely love this knife, microtech really knows what they are doing. I have the UTX 70 with the blue case, black blade, but i want the dirac in blue.
Think Southern Edges has a selection, try PVK Vegas. They are Microtech’s largest dealer.
ОтветитьDude, stellar personal anecdotes on these Microtech OTF’s. I’m subscribed now. I have a question tho; on the Delta video you mentioned that Elmax was awesome but that 204p was amazing. Could you please explain the difference and why you prefer one over the other?
ОтветитьOh men.. wanna have one 😏
ОтветитьYou didn't mention about blade play. How big it is?
ОтветитьI just purchased my first Microtech blade, the Dirac HW 225-1 T. I too purchased from Southern Edges. Mike was very helpful and knowledgeable. Lucky for me, I am only about 20 mins from his shop. I will continue to use Southern Edges to purchase my future blades from..
ОтветитьI'd like to see this in a Spartan blade.
ОтветитьIf a Microtech knife is good enough for guys JAMES BOND and JOHN WICK they are good for EVERYONE.
ОтветитьI was ready to buy one but when Black Friday came around I got a piranha Excalibur on sale. Didn't work out of the box and when I returned it was stuck with store credit and the only other otf was Benchmade.
ОтветитьWanted to get my girl a UTX-70 but now... 🤔 how to surprise here and still nail it 😶 without giving what I'm up to away 😏
🥃cheers🍻
Great, informative video 👍. If you know where I can buy a
MICROTECH DIRAC BLACK DOUBLE EDGE OTF KNIFE BLACK FULL SERRATED BLADE HW 225-3
Please let me know. I've been searching but everyone seems to be out of stock. Thank you
Will you get the new makora?
ОтветитьI know I'm late to the table here, but I have heard from the grapevine that to date, MT has not produced any more of these in some years. The only way you are going to find one is on the pre-owned market. Even on the used market you do not see these come up that often. I'm wondering if this is because the Dirac has not quite garnered the following that their flagship Ultratech, or even the "newer" Troodon has. If this is the case, I find it a bit weird, given that every review I see of the Dirac has nothing but good things to say. I really wish I knew what MT was doing on the Dirac front.
