I never trusted cloud systems. I always use local options like backing up to hard drives then leaving it with an off site (not at home) place I can store my hard drives. Like a bank lock box.
If you don't have a friend for a back up number buy a cheap phone you can use personally and just store it in a safe place. This works if you're like me and not very social.
God they REALLY don't want you to turn on this setting do they. It's one hell of a mission - creating a 28 character security key, then having to manually write it down somewhere, and re-inputting the security key, then downloading icloud for windows so I had the latest version, and FINALLY it's turned on, 15 minutes later. I am STAGGERED this encryption was not enabled by default.
ОтветитьI mostly use iCloud just to move files from phone to computer and vice versa
ОтветитьYou are pretty 🤩
ОтветитьI don’t use the cloud at air because I don’t trust it.
ОтветитьMine was on by default. Sounds like click bait to me
ОтветитьThis is where we find out Apple forced us to buy a new phone .
ОтветитьTHANKS
ОтветитьAre you sure ADP actually secures your iCloud data? I do not use any Cloud services to backup my data! I backup the old fashioned way - in triplicate and with a backup drive physically located “Offsite”.
ОтветитьIts Odd that Iphones are considered more secure than Android yet Chinese government Approves Iphone. and you know privacy is not something they want
ОтветитьYou need to be specific, this is only if you have one Apple device.
ОтветитьAs easy as the setting is to turn on, it’s also important to know that you may have plenty of devices that are new enough to still work fine for day to day tasks, but are to old to update to a new enough os to be eligible for this. I have an Apple Watch 3 and it can’t update the a recent enough version of watchOS. The only solution is to remove it from my Apple account, but then it’s impossible to link to my phone and get notifications. I also have a 2016 MacBook Pro that is more than good enough for the browsing and show watching I do on it, but it also can’t update to a new enough os, so I have to either go with out advanced data protection, maintain two separate Apple ids, or buy new hardware, none of which are good options
ОтветитьI like Tresorit as well for self hosted data storage that is accessible via web and sharable with others if needed.
ОтветитьBuy an external hard drive and copy all the data to it (for example) every month... And then you can skip this video!

ОтветитьActually a recovery contact is not needed to turn on data protection. A recovery key is enough.
ОтветитьSaying Darta does my head in. Data of Star Trek is pronounced Dayta says it all.
ОтветитьWake up, Apple and privacy don't go together anymore, especially concerning the new iphones. It's the new reality, if you want privacy, you need private or de-googled phones and open source apps and software—Linux, Session, LibreOffice, etc.
ОтветитьI use cryptomator with any cloud service, works well
ОтветитьI would agree with everyone that says to tread lightly with this feature. For me, several things we may have used in a business environment, I would never ‘turn on’ for an everyday user.
ОтветитьOh no, who would've thought?!?!?!
ОтветитьApple loves to say they care about privacy but that is a cover to the fact that they don’t at all. Another issue is after an software update these settings usually reset back to default. so you have to turn them back ON or Off depending on the setting. this also applied to signing out of icloud and back in will also reset certain settings. apple loves making your life harder not easier.
Ответить🤔 Are we really to believe that in this age of the Patriot Act, Carnivore Program, DHS
and any number of other Government “Alphabet Agencies” prying into our lives, that these entities do not already have “back door access” to all our “private information”? 😎
Unfortunately it is not possible for me to set it up. I don’t know anyone who uses Apple that I would trust as a recovery person.
ОтветитьDuh cloud was never private
Ответитьits daytar not dartar ffs lmao
ОтветитьI don’t have the advanced data protection option.
Ответить🛡 +1 Privacy tip! Ty so much for sharing the Advanced Data Protection enabling technique. More people need to do this! Keep up the excellent work. 🔐
ОтветитьADP Web Access (to iPhone from Windows PC) has been nothing but problematic for me. Both devices are fully updated and Web Access is enabled, but I cannot access my iCloud Notes from my Windows PC. Have turned ADP off and on again - among other things - but nothing works.
ОтветитьShe needs to work in an Apple store to understand what problems she is causing.
Ответитьcan I inscript Music?
Ответить@Naomi Brockwell TV You know about Rothbard? Have you read his book, “The Mystery of Banking?” Just as good as his money book.
Ответитьor a white paper
ОтветитьPasswords Passwords JEEZ
ОтветитьThank you for your very helpful advice. I have applied it all to my phone 🙏🏻
ОтветитьNot worth the risk!
ОтветитьTaking about security while telling people to store the secret key in a password manager 😂 ya definitely super secure your password manger app has a data breach one day now your secret key to your iCloud data is exposed I’m dead at this negligence and also Apple doesn’t scan your emails lol 😂 and if this is true please make a video referencing something that’s proof like a Statement by Apple or something of that nature .
ОтветитьI know this that’s the only way Apple can cure your accounts and know what’s going on if you get a virus or you get someone that attacks your account that leaves you open so think about it what you’re saying.
Ответитьaustralians are so Cool!
I imitate accents a lot and the brightest one I've imitated for fun is Australian which made realise how brright it is.
You guies are so nice
if apple cared about privacy it would of been on by default lol proton ftw
ОтветитьWho goes. We are not that important.
ОтветитьI've given up trying to turn on Advanced Data Protection. All my devices are up to date, I've signed out and back in to my ID (icloud) on my devices, rebooted them, created new recovery keys......nothing works! I keep getting a 'server error, please try again later' - I don't really have anything in there, but for security I would like it on. After trying for a full week, I am a hair's breadth away from giving up and just not using iCloud.
The cynic in me would wonder why its proving so difficult for me to turn on such a simple feature......does Apple NOT want me to encrypt my data in their cloud?! aha
Interesting
ОтветитьApples iCloud is trash. You still have to keep pictures on your devices. If you delete them on one device then there go on all devices. It’s not a real cloud storage. If I upload to the cloud on windows there saved no need to keep them on my drive. The whole point of cloud storage is to not fill have to up your storage.
ОтветитьMy datar…
ОтветитьIt seems to me that you do this for money, they pay you to say what you say Apple is the least interested in its customers' data, Apple is not Google, Microsoft or Facebook, or will you tell me that Google drive, one note or the ones you recommend do not spy? Please be more serious when giving advice to people.
ОтветитьWait so the contacts can see what you do on your phone eg. What apps you have/had downloaded etc?
