Cool vid l, what Sidewinders you are using tho? Germany never had smokeless aim9s for their Phantoms
ОтветитьPhantom is a tough bird. 3 missiles and she was mostly together.
Ответить(Read in michael pritchard’s voice)
Overwhelmed by the surge of Soviet fighters, the crews aboard NATO sentries orbiting high above and far away from the battle became little more than spectators, as the skies over Western Germany descended into chaos.
With closing speeds measured in hundreds to thousands of kilometres, NATO and Warsaw pact pilots alike found themselves at close range, the realm of heat sealing missiles and cannons.
Radios ablaze with dozens of overlapping calls and all but cut off from AWACS control, the NATO pilots fell back on the old ways, the original rules of air combat written in blood in skies not all that far from these.
In pairs, American, German, British and French pilots took on the might of the Soviet air forces in desperate high speed dogfights. Though the Soviet pilots were not trained for this kind of fighting, it is by no means easy to kill a man who does not want to die. Smoke trails and cannon tracers criss-crossed the sky, some connecting with yellow orange fireballs that turned to comets. Greasy black smoke marked their final plunge to the earth.
No one would ever know the true tally of either side. A hundreds of miles per hour impact with the ground following a missile impact left Eagles, Falcons, Mirages, Phantoms and Migs looking alike. Personal claims would be overstated; they always had been. Nor would the toll from friendly fire ever be known. It is not easy to distinguish one blurry metal shape from another while fighting for one's life scant hundreds of feet above the ground.
There would be little celebration at NATO and Pact air bases that night. Survivors would land, stumble from their cockpits and mechanically see to their needs, before finding somewhere private to grieve in the few minutes they'd have before the next scramble.
Excellent vid!
Suggestion for you.
Can you create a mission similar to this one where the enemy starts out with several Mig 15's, then Mig 17's enter the fray, then go up the Mig line of progressively harder Migs to see how far you could make it in the line without getting shot down? I'm also wondering if the last generation of F-4's had a larger missile capacity....
Never underestimate the trusty ol' Luftwaffediesel!
ОтветитьI could tell by the roundals on the MiG 21 it belonged to the Luftstreitkräfte der Nationalen Volksarmee and the positioning of opposing AAA on both sides of the river you are creating the Battle of Berlin that never happened?
I love DCS for these hypothetical what if battles.
The German F4s never had sparrows......but they did have AMRAAMS, Heatblur wenn
ОтветитьThis almost needs the soundtrack from "Comona" or "Showdown"
ОтветитьGreat job being a team player and taking those missiles from the MiG-21's so that your buddy could get a double kill.
ОтветитьThis was cool. Would be cool if you and Longshot flew a pair of Phantoms over Vietnam.
ОтветитьGreat illustration of the fog of war.
ОтветитьDay 18 of asking for a 2v2 dogfight
ОтветитьSplash 3 and the 2nd Mig 29 were visualy amazing, poetry in motion. Over which place did you play this mission ?
Thank you for the amazing work @GrowlingSidewinder.
can we talk about how that F-4 tanked those first 2 missiles?
Side note: Kinda looks like they're flying over the Rhein-Ruhr area and i think it would look better after a supersonic air battle took place overhead
The German Luftwaffe fielded F-4F variants until 2013. The F-4F was capable of carrying 4x AMRAAM AIM-120s. First F-4F test firing the AIM-120 taking place in 1992.
Ответитьf16 vs su30
ОтветитьThe german f4f was able to use aim-120s 😅
ОтветитьImmediatly thought of the Tom Clancy book red storm rising. That video could have been right out of it.
What a Massacre!
Die Geparden erledigen ihren Job!
Ответить"That flak was for me. I don't like that." That was funny. I love the f4. Dad was a crew chief working w/f4s, and I had a f4 edf (foam) rc jet. It flew like it was on rails. I always liked the airframe on an f4. That was a great battle. Keep it up. I enjoy the vids. My vote is f16 outnumbered by migs or something an f16 could handle more than one of. I like the hairball mayhem in this vid. How you're always having to remember to keep an eye out for other bandits besides the one in front of you.
ОтветитьGreat video as always. I’ve enjoyed your recent WW2 content, and would love to see an even more ridiculous scenario—- A10 vs German bomber fleet.
Can a CBU drop be timed perfectly enough to hit a bomber?
Can the A10 join the strike eagle with an air to air glide bomb kill?
What effect does 30 mm depleted uranium rounds have on WW2 airframes? The world needs these answers and you’re the only person who can answer them!
Great video. Would love to see other aircraft in these types of scenarios!
ОтветитьAbsolutely wild furball. The kind of stuff that was forecast, over Europe, but never seen.
ОтветитьIs this the new Kola map? That city was cinematic as hell
ОтветитьI do remember the sonic booms of Phantoms and Starfighters from my childhood, when super sonic flying was not yet restricted over Western Germany. Very common. Knocked out many a window.
Ответитьf4 phanton vs su57
ОтветитьGreat video GS... 👍🏻
ОтветитьThought I smelled Luftwaffles.
ОтветитьSmokey and Multiple Bandits.
ОтветитьDas Fliegerziegel!
ОтветитьAll this because someone released 99 red balloons over the wall?
ОтветитьThe folks on the ground can’t be enjoying all that AAA ordinance landing on them.
ОтветитьMiGGers, MiGGers everywhere😭😭
ОтветитьI honestly thought as I watched this, in what real scenario would German F4's face off against Mig29's? 2 different eras, surely? Then I read Germany did not retire its last F4's until 2013. You learn something new everyday...
Ответитьwhat the fighter pilots from Warno see:
ОтветитьThe Germans only wish they had the F-4 lol
Ответить😮😅😊
ОтветитьThe end scene was absolute carnage.
Ответитьthe phantom was called "nato diesel" in germany because of the black smoke coming out of the engines when flying without the afterburner :D
Ответитьwhat an epic furball
ОтветитьThis is far more interesting. The lack of awareness, the smoke & AAA, the hectic nature. It feels really authentic!
ОтветитьTy for the content this year, GS! Love the Phantom stuff, and Happy Thanksgiving!
ОтветитьDid that old beast of a Phantom soak 2 missiles before the 3rd took it out?
Impressive!!!
It took 3 hits to take you out!
