What are the benefits of cap hold? Does it just give me bird rights to the player? And what does bird rights do for you? Please help meeeee?!

What about players who’s rights were renounced in MyCareer? Is there some way to have your team pick them up immediately? Or do I have to wait for influence free agency and hope that my team signs them next off season?

Really good job explaining a convoluted topic.
It also doesn't help that 2K tends to have a bunch of order of processing bugs with this stuff.
For example, you can use all but a few dollars of cap space in the moratorium period, renounce everyone, then (as long as you do both in the same day) use both Non-Bird rights on one player and the full MLE on another. In reality, you shouldn't be able to use either.

Nice vid. I noticed that upon signing rookies their salary is actually counted in the salary cap. Is this a bug in 2k or is it correct?

What about restricted free agents that are coming off their rookie contracts? I've got Laurie Markkanen, who is a RFA, has a 10 million dollar cap hold, and is asking for a contract starting at 29 million. Am I able to spend 99 percent of my cap, and then re-sign/match any offer that Laurie gets? I remember a franchise I did some time ago, lost a great young talent because I spent all my cap thinking I could re-sign my RFA. But when the time came to match an offer from another team, it said I didn't have the cap space necessary, and lost him. So before mapping out my offseason plan I am here, trying to figure it out first.
