The Yammy 350 is over $37,000 in Canada. Insane, unless it come with a very nice boat.

A single 7 marine 627 outboard would be pretty sweet on an offshore boat

I like Yamaha bu when you going for twin or bigger Suzuki better because there big motors like the 300 or the 350 are much slimmer

I own Mercury and vary happy. I just want to say something about the Suzuki motor. If you are a shallow water fisherman.... I watched a Suzuki run thru a large mud bog....it was peeing black mud and it never ran hot. Just saying my merc will not do that.

150 hours on my 2011 75hp 4stroke mercury and all I have done is the scheduled maintenance and not a problem ,, I'm sure the other big name companies can get the same results if you just service them.when needed

Having good local service for the engine is probably MORE important than the engine itself these days. What good is a new Suzuki if service is 2 hours away?

I don't get why Yamaha outboards are so popular. Lower units that last only 1000 hrs, corrosion issues, flywheel issues and some models doing grenade imitations. The Mercury engines beg the question; why would anyone want a supercharged outboard? The best outboard for boats is a 2 stroke so Etec makes more sense than any of them.

I agree that engines are a lot more reliable than they used to be. And yes I would go offshore with just a single, newer model outboard. But at the end of the day, I don’t think you can really take it out of the equation. I mean, sure they are a lot less likely to break down. But they still can! Or a water pump can go bad. Or you can hit something and damage prop. A belt can break. Etc etc. so, if you go off shore a lot, I would still lean towards twins+ just for the piece of mind. IMO 🤔

Love the EvinRUDE marketing... Let me tell you a little story about how a buddy of mine bought a brand new E-tec and didn't service it... Well, a bit of water got into the lower end gear case oil and froze and cracked the housing during the winter! Needless to say he needs a new bottom end, warranty you say? Nope, they did not cover it under warranty and he says dealers arnt giving him anything to trade it!! What a waste.

Suzuki is thousands cheaper, more reliable, double the warranty and speaking of warranty, if you do have a problem, suzuki will be on it quick. Yamaha seems to feel that they don't need to deal with your problems. Suzuki is also way quieter running and more fuel efficient. It's a no brainer for me.
