Its really great movie.. rules and knowledge in forest can't buy now.. only people have experience and living in forests know its.. friendship never end even one already leave the world.. i love how dersu, talk with forest and animal.. in the dersu life, peace with forest..

Придется еще раз пересмотреть этот фильм. Как-то проскользнул этот момент когда тигра обидели. Тигр действительно может пойти по стопам своего обидчика и не успокоится пока не отомстит. Типичная кошка

Saw this film for the first time as a kid back in 70s. Unforgettable, one of the greatest films ever. However, it has to be seen on a big screen for the full experience.

If I had to choose just one scene, for its beauty, its music, its poetry, it would be Dersu, narrating part of his story to the captain, unable to understand malice, not understanding why he was robbed. My father sometimes had moments like this. I don't have that hope, I don't share the greatest faith of my father, of Prince Liév Nikoláievitch Míchkin (Лев Николаевич Мышкин), and of Eduardo Suplicy (here in Brazil): that justice and goodness endure. I interpret their hope as an inability to accept reality. Perhaps the world is the violent pantomime of Chekhov in В овраге (In the Ravine), the terrifying ignorance of Мужики (The Peasants), or the bitter ingratitude of Guy de Maupassant in Boule de Suif. These are interpretations, and I borrow my own feelings: only silent and indifferent Darwinism exists. And that's how it ends. Kurosawa teaches us that the captain's goodwill is penalized. The gun given to help a friend is what hastens his death. Our fate will ultimately be death. Death condemns everything. Today in particular, it is no surprise that 'the gentle indifference of the world' has become clearer... Am I just bitter? 'Men judge according to their convictions, caring little for the truth... Communism doesn’t work because it holds the same innocence of believing that human behavior is not marked by selfishness, ambition, and corruption. Fear, envy, and stupidity are more prevalent than generosity, understanding, and effort. We are heading toward climate catastrophe, the peak of totalitarianism, and the dominance of big corporations. Welcome to the brave new world! Long live the far right!

Watched the film in Buenos Aires Argentina in 1976 or 77, there was a cinema on Corrientes Avenue, Kosmos Cinema, exclusively dedicated to screening Soviet films.
We also saw there, Solaris and many more.

There is book called Travels to the Shikote-Alin mountains. Movie is based on that book. I read the book long time ago but never seen the movie. I didn't know that there is a movie.
