The problem with these suggestions, is that 99% of people living in small towns in today's economy are just scraping by and a lot only have enough money to pay their rent and buy food due to inflation. Good luck finding paying gigs in a small town with these suggestions nowadays.

I have owned "Yard Maintenance" business for 16 years just for the record there is A LOT more involved than gas and maintenance - it is very expensive to make an income this way and requires a lot of sacrifice - It is a a rewarding business and does make a fair amount of money but requires dedication - Also if your let this business take over your life it will -speaking from experience - Great video there are some honest trades for hard working folks here.

Funny how I did all of these for other people then I started my own company helping business owners finance equipment and have been doing it since 2008. And now that I travel full time in an RV I do it nationwide.

If you own a truck/ suv find out when the rich neighbourhoods have trash day and drive around them the night before trash day. Rich people almost always throw away good stuff that can be repurposed. Bonus tip: Check on Zillow for top neighbourhoods in you town, look up houses 600.000k and up, near private clubs/ golf courses, private schools you get the idea....Take discarded kid toys/furniture/tools clean it, repair or fix and resell it. Done that many times, sold kids toys at kid consignments, furniture at yard sales, tools/ electronics at pawn shops

car detailing:

not as easy as he makes it sound.

first of all, you are not gonna "start small" with a bucket and towels and a vacuum. a normal shop vac even is not going to suck everything out if the carpet. you're also going to need specific tools to get into crevices (without scratching leather or plastic components)

second, you cannot, and i cant stress this enough, CANNOT use your old bath towels. and if you do not know what you're doing you are going to leave swirl marks all over the exterior.

to really start a decent detail business you are going to need good equipment and the knowledge of how to do it correctly.

also, it takes a while to detail a car. and depending on where you live it is going to get HOT in the summer, especially if you don't have a source of shade. which is another key factor, because you don't want to leave water spots on the exterior either.

For auto detailing, if you only have a bucket, towels, and a vacuum cleaner, you'll only be equipped to properly do one thing: Vacuum interiors. Bucket and towels won't do squat for you unless you have additional equipment. What's the bucket for? Not much, unless you also have a solution to fill it with, so you'll also need (for example) a sponge and automotive soap. What are a bunch of towels for? Dry-wiping surfaces is nothing more than dusting. To satisfactorily clean [whatever it is], you'll also need cleaning solution(s). And a big warning comes with towels: For most vehicle surfaces, regular household towels are distinctly bad for detailing. Bad means they introduce micro-scratches to many (not all) surfaces. Ever wipe down an acrylic or polocarbonate surface with a household towel? It leaves highly-visible scratches. Microfiber towels are the way - and there are different kinds. So - detailing is a great idea, but it isn't quite so simplistic. BE CAREFUL. Educate yourself on appropriate equipment and techniques before diving in, or risk pissing off a whole bunch of people.

I did auto detailing for a bit and i can PROMISE you that nobody will pay you $150 to detail their car with nothing but a bucket towels and a vacuum. With that equipment only all you can do is clean a car and theres a big difference between cleaning a car and detailing a car
