HVAC Service Tech doing Commercial & Industrial work
ОтветитьI did plumbing for 5 yrs in Michigan and now I d hvac love both but I do miss plumbing sometimes not going to lie
ОтветитьI personally hold 2 licenses from Cslb and my company has 3 licenses with an Rmo we do general contracting, plumbing and hvac. Yes hvac does include a bit of electrical and plumbing, I started out as working for 4 years as an electrician this is how I would rate after doing them all.
1- plumbing need experience beyond belief Gas, water , drain , vent and has to be spot on!
2- electrical although hvac is close depending on commercial or residential, residential electrical is easier.
3- hvac. residential is harder although doesn’t even come close to commercial electrical
After 22 years in construction all licensed work!!!
compressing gasses is work, makes gas hot. Compressed gas escaping from a container looses heat .. gets cold. Thermal exchange. Physical Chemistry man ... thermodynamics
ОтветитьI do both. I just like doing something different everyday.
ОтветитьI’m going to boces this school year junior year learing plumbing senior year hvac I’ll lyk which one I like better before going into it I might like plumbing better but will see.
ОтветитьI’m Hvac!
Ответитьgonna go into hvac right outta highschool. does anyone have any suggestions for around the bay area? I was thinking of taking my hvac classes for 15 months at community college then into apprenticeship. is this the right thing to do?
ОтветитьI'm actually going from H.V.A.C to being a plumber apprentice. Most companies in my area do both and I enjoy both about equally.
ОтветитьFriendly correction, the R in HVAC/ R stands for Refrigeration. Refrigeration would be like for example, ice machines, walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, beer walk-ins, kitchen equipment in restaurant or grocery stores. And refrigeration does differ from HVAC work, needs it’s own training
ОтветитьCan't have one without the other. I love both of you, HVAC needs us all the time to install long runs and plumbers hate hardwired garbage disposals, need ingnitor plugs on tankless units etc. Roger, love to get on a B2B video with you. Our channel is 100% B2B for Electrical Contracgtors. God Bless see you on the next one!
ОтветитьCan you compare plumber vs mechanic please
ОтветитьElectrician here. I always thought it was cool how hvac is sort of the bridge between us and plumbing. I recently did some minor troubleshooting on the electrical side of an ac unit alongside a plumber who looked at the “plumbing” side of the unit and together we were able to get it working haha. Love it!
ОтветитьI do HVAC, but for me doing it for a while, you wanna learn all the trades.
ОтветитьHVAC. But I’m also a plumber and electrician on occasion as that ties in with my work a lot.
ОтветитьLearn both
ОтветитьWhy not learn both
ОтветитьI wanna join the hvac team. I keep hearing how challenging it is and how hot and dirty it can get, but that’s my type of work environment. I love a challenge and I like how the work is not slowing down anytime soon. I’m hoping to start school this afternoon when I get off work. I’m super excited about getting certified
ОтветитьI like both. But, I'm more with HVAC
ОтветитьMastering hvac, in my baised opinion, takes a more intelligent person. You have alot of information to interpret with different pressures of liquid/gas and their corresponding boiling/condensing temperatures, their actual temperatures, airflows at different points of the system and the relationship to all the other components.
Digital gauges, calculating programs, and such makes it little quicker.
if you have trouble understanding the physics and math behind how everything works cant master it; but there plenty of people making a living just adding "freon" until they break it and then selling a new system, arg
I was in Hvac for 4 years and now transitioned to Plumbing. I’m glad I decided to get into the Plumbing industry. Being in Florida… the heat&humidity is brutal.
ОтветитьGood video, how difficult is to get the Plumbing license after been a HVAC tech?
ОтветитьWhoever does the editing and throwing in funny videos in your videos is amazing. Thoroughly enjoy watching your videos🤙
ОтветитьI'm an electrician but if I had it to do over again I would consider HVAC! they do some plumbing, electrical, sheet metal, pipefitting, ect! also they learn state of the art control system ! you get the best of All the trades!!!! then you can CHOOSE what type of business you want to focus on!!!!
Ответитьif you don't want to work in an attic give out a high price!!!! if you don't want to work in sewage backed up crawl space then give a high price !!!! always better to have a choice
Ответитьthere is almost always steady stream of good work from equipment breaking down. and when it's slow go on vacation
Ответитьdad was a plumber and he said like you did that plumbers PREVENT diseases
Ответитьmy son is a HVAC technician he had to aquire a lot of tools but I was able to find many at flea markets and garage sales and estate sales for good tools at low prices!!!!! also Local Habitat for Humanity stores !!!!!
Ответитьif you want to make a lot of money work towards getting your licenses and certifications and start your own business
Ответитьa little bit of advice is to save and invest in your personal retirement accounts so you can buy a house and retire at a reasonable age !!! you can if apply yourself make a GREAT living for yourself and your family
ОтветитьHVAC tech here and for the most part I love it, but summers can be hell
ОтветитьThere is a 3rd option in HVAC/R and that's the commercial refrigeration side. There are a lot of supermarkets and restaurants where refrigeration is serious work, imagine a refrigerated food warehouse and the freezer is slowly getting warmer with hundreds of thousands of dollars in product that will soon be trash if it's not fixed. HVAC/R can also lead you into the food service repair trade where your fixing restaurant equipment which I did for awhile before moving to supermarkets and warehouse refrigeration. Commercial refrigeration is in massive demand for techs and once you have a few years experience and can actually walk the walk you can almost name your price and companies will be tripping over themselves to get you, hell the Walmart near me (we do some contract work there) is hiring HVAC/R techs right out of trade school with zero real world experience for $38/hr.
ОтветитьAs an HVAC guy it should be against code to install a air handler in an attic in Texas. I live in Texas and have been in attics that were a 160 degrees and can tell you, you can not pay a person enough money to be in that attic trying to wire in a blower motor. For this reason I went to be an tech in industrial HVAC in semiconductor plant.
ОтветитьHello I do HVAC but I'm thinking about going to plumbing i I'll be better as a plumber. HVAC tech is a lot of technical and i don't think that's my strength.
ОтветитьIve done only 2 years of both but I prefer residential on both. Plumbing I would choose service work. And you would still want a backhoe or something to dig with incase you have to replace a drain. Hvac I would prefer installations. But service work is ok. I think it takes less tools and less equipment to do hvac.
Ответитьeditor is a real memer
ОтветитьWorking full time in a machine shop that is going downhill and going to school at night for hvacr
ОтветитьAs a plumber you should have the knowledge of HVAC. Being in NyC doing boiler service/ installs people always confusing us with HVAC. . NYC plumbing and Heating companies is everywhere
ОтветитьI don’t wanna get poop on my face
ОтветитьHey Roger! I will be 35 in March and I’m looking to make a career move. I’m really interested in plumbing, but I’ve also started hearing great things about getting into HVAC. My short term goal is to get in either one learn the trade, and grow as much as possible! My long term goal is to eventually start my own business. I have some sales experience and an entrepreneurial spirit. I’m new to your channel thanks for some of the tips you’ve shared!
ОтветитьThis is the question ive struggled with. I’m 35 and I’m in industrial maintenance but I’m looking for a change. I want to get out of the factory scene. This video helps a lot.
ОтветитьIm 19 years old, and for me HVAC Tech sounds dope. Also electrician but I dont know which one to start my career with. Can somebody help me which one to choose?
ОтветитьIm kinda both and neither at the same time. Im enrolled in HVAC in renton technical college and have applyed for a residential plumbing aprentiship at UA32. and the cherry on top. Most work Ive done was non employed automotive because I owned a beater car 2001 crv. Closest thing I did to a HVAC job besides partially vacuming vents is replace a radiator.
ОтветитьHands down plumbing is better, theres just more business in plumbing
ОтветитьHvac better hands down especially in service not having to deal with people's shit and piss best move I ever made never look back.
Ответитьplanning on going into HVAC, your videos inspiration me alot, and i hope God give me more life so i can also go into the pluming and Electrician, thanks for the great videos!!!
ОтветитьIm 23 doing hvac getting my epa soon and I gotta say hvac schools are alot more popular down here in Texas so if you live in a big city here hvac is definitely for you those hot days are terrible but I love to work outside.
ОтветитьPlumber / HVAC is a killer combo in terms of dual trades. The cross over is seamless and has great synergy covering a wide array of skills and ability to provide service for customers. If you’re looking to start a business, you’d have a great outlook with that skill set
Ответитьwhich one is easier on average.
ОтветитьWhich is better? Let me know!
