ОтветитьThe manufacturing happens abroad ! Maybe a little less vague and a lot more precise about the abroad situation. Is it abroad in Canada or France or Australiua or abroad in a sweatshop in china, india, south america and africa with 7 years old working 12 hours a day making clothes ? That is the only question we want the answer to when it comes to where do the clothes come from !!

ОтветитьWhen I go to Marshalls, I often head to the dressing room with 14 things to try on and buy a few of them. When I shop online, I return most of what I buy because it doesn’t fit properly. I love the way Marshalls clothes are organized by size too. It’s a more efficient way of shopping.

ОтветитьI wish I had beefed up my sewing skills as I would honestly prefer to make or upcycle my own clothes. I am just tired of end stage capitalism.
ОтветитьNow days the quality is like walmart ....nothing pretty and nothing good anymore. They still have nice purses, and body products...but that is it.
ОтветитьIt’s all made from plastic materials that burn in the dryer after the first wash. I’m not taking everything to a dry cleaner.
ОтветитьClothing is no longer properly made . Most of it has to be dry cleaned in order to last.
More American jobs across the pond.
Kate Spade’s quality is going down. They sell a lot of saffiano leather purses which is just cheap leather. They are overpriced & alway on sale so you can’t return them.

ОтветитьWho the heck can afford new clothes when we can’t afford to even eat?! All this consumerism is really not good for anyone but the sellers anyways…we’re better off not buying all this needless crap…we need to start worrying about what’s truly important and that’s not who’s wearing the latest colour…makes me nauseated actually shallow thinking…

ОтветитьThe only reason the media is focusing on these brands is because the high price department stores are losing business.

ОтветитьI love TJ Maxx. I like Marshalls too! The best two stores in my opinion.
ОтветитьMarshalls has a lot of stuff that looks like it has been opened and returned.

ОтветитьMy best Tk Maxx ( UK) buy, was a black, Barbour Beaufort mens coat with hood, for £80 about ten yesrs ago.
ОтветитьIn the clothing industry the middle is hard, hard as hell. The money is at the low end (TJ Maxx, which owns Marshalls, Homegoods and used to own CVS).then comes the high end (boutiques; hermes, lvmh, Balenciaga, Channel). Everyone else falls in between and are scratching and clawing. Macys changed over to compete with TJ Maxx from being a mid to high priced dept store chain. They got greedy and priced itself out of the market a long time ago. They probably should just close because they sell mainly junk that ends up in, you guessed it, Marshalls.

ОтветитьItem clothing & decor, etc all resold with defects at half the price value.
ОтветитьBottom line: the increase in discount retail sales is aligned with increased costs of housing, food, & gas prices. Consumers are forced to purchase lower quality retail products because of the difficult economic conditions, ie the cost of living.

ОтветитьUnfortunately, the outlet versions are full of inventory made specifically for that price point. So you’ll find a lesser quality pair of jeans at the Levi’s outlet. Which really defeats the reason consumers go to an outlet store.
ОтветитьIt’s become quite obvious over the years that TJM is producing their own ugly cheap looking clothes exclusively for their stores. I started noticing a difference some time ago when I couldn’t find the better quality clothing they initially carried from over production of name label designers. Better off going to target or Walmart now, since their clothes at least have some appeal.
ОтветитьRoss at 10th and MARKET in PHILADELPHIA IS VERY GOOD WE GOT TWO PAIRS OF GUCCI SUNGLASSES 169.99 EACH A COACH NEW YORK PARKA FOR 199.99 RETAIL $895.50 COACH MENS BOOTS FOR 99.99 THE STORE IS PACKED WITH ALL GOOD BRANDS. WE LEFT VERY HAPPY. I HOPE PHILLY DONT MESS THIS UP. I MAY HAVE TO MAKE A VIDEO.
ОтветитьThe discount store used to be actual real retail products that are moved to outlet after the season has past…now the cheap clothing is the only thing they sell…just junk that never was offered in any real retail store. Passing off cheap Chinese crap as “off price”…. Just junk. Go to a retail store and buy quality. Learn the quality brands. It will last for years and pay you back in long lasting quality.
ОтветитьMiss the thrill of going to those stores and finding high-quality, luxury item or something really unique at a decent discount. That's missing now.
ОтветитьMost of what I see in stores now is stretch. Stretch jeans with elastine, and other garments being made with material fabric blends. It is getting harder to find a pair of jeans made of 100 percent cotton anymore. Most jeans are now a stretch to increase the width so if you gain a few pounds the fabric stretches. I have also seen high end clothing with a designer label available in a Ross Dress For Less with a different brand label sewn into the garment. An example of rebranding.
ОтветитьI gave up on shopping. Haven’t really bought anything lately….quality has gone down across the board from luxury to Ross crap. If we tighten our wallets we can get what we want. We have the power.
ОтветитьI just don’t buy at these stores…..
Thrift shop instead. Helps the world.
I shop almost exclusively thrift or consignment stores for my entire family for the last 30 years. The only time I buy anything at a retail store is if I’m buying a gift or if I need something particular that I haven’t found thrifting in over a 2-6 month period.
The thing about thrifting is you have to know where to go for what kind of item needed and what time to go looking. Where I primarily shop, I see new, never used (tags still on) items in multiple sizes & colors all the time. This tells me the store’s “buyers” are purchasing inventory from these same off-retailers you’re talking about too. I regularly see QVC & HSN designers, I see Kohl’s, Chico’s, Dress Barn and Walmart brands too…..all with their original price tags that the thrift store re-prices, usually at half or less. I can buy Karen Scott, H&M, Gap, Talbots, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, etc., all for a fraction of even T.J. Maxx prices, therefore I have no reason to shop retail for almost anything!!
I stopped shopping at department stores because of the service. 25 years ago, it was special to buy something at Nordstrom or Neiman's, now you get the same rude service everywhere so the special feeling you would get in department store shopping is gone.
ОтветитьJersey fabric from cheap material is the norm of modern clothing. So that they can be produced without shape yet fit lot of bodies. That’s how they can keep the price low for consumers.
