Why mine vanilla is smoother than optifine?

can i ask? i created a forge modpack with siren head and stuff and i downloaded the optifine from the website you showed and it was the right version but when i grabbed it and put it in to the folder i got mod installed in modpack called terror not optifine so i tried to play it but it crashed so i grabbed the optifine from my older modpack duplicated him and put it in the siren head modpack. i saw the optifine in mods and then i clicked play and it crashed again. so i dont know how to fix that or is it that optifine is getting canceled or something because i couldnt even find it on curse forge so do you have any sollutions?

When sodium got popular, a lot of optifine features got ported to independent mods that are compatible with sodium.

Rip optifine, i'm now friends with sodium.

I mean Optifine led me to being able to find mod loaders such as Curseforge, and then Modrinth, and various other quality of life and performance mods. Without them I'd still be stuck with Vanilla Java performance.

When these people who created Optfine, released version 1.20.6, Mojang released 1.21, these people at Optfine don't know how to do a fucking thing, they take months to release a version

I cant use sodium cause none of the mods i enjoy are made for it. Problem is more and more of the mods are becoming incompatible with optifine and there are no alternatives that work close enough with it.

On my low-end laptop I still use Optifine because it makes the game smoother than Sodium etc. because Sodium boosts it more, but its got too many lag spikes

i play mc with all the mods i need: wurst client, appleskin, shulker box tooltip, better command block ui, nbt autocomplete, and i just recently got sodium

Optifine surprisingly is compatible with the majority of mods in my modpack. Whereas Rubidium/Embeddium literally crashes my game on start.

I can understand why it's not loved. But I feel like the overhatred around it is kind of unjustified.

It almost feels like people just want to find a black sheep to hate on for no reasons. 😅

The biggest difference for me and a lot of people is that Sodium has the latest versions updated so much faster than Optifine does. Like optifine has taken 3 weeks to update to 1.21 but Sodium has been updated to 1.21 for 2 weeks already..

I still get horrible fps from both of them. Probably because of the shaders or the unorthodox amount of optimization mods from three different optimization mod packs I have installed

I don't want to switch to sodium because I need forge to play with it and forge eats up performance no worse than Google Chrome

Can Sodium turn off the nether fog? Or light up around you while you hold a torch in your hand? Or zoom in clicking the C button? These are genuine questions

i still use optifina because iris is not well optimized for shaders atleast for my laptops intehrated graphics i got better performance by optifine with shaders than sodium and got better performance without shaders on sodium i prefer to play with shaders so still prefer optifine over sodium

because OptiFine showed that they didn't get you more FPS vs. Sodium and therefore it died

You know what sucks? Optifine makes my performance way better than Sodium does. But I NEED the mod comparability for the simple voice chat mod!!!

My Computer is opposite. With Sodium I Get Worst Fps With Vanilla i get average and From Optifine i get good

The thing about optifine is that its optimized for older versions if Minecraft, so if youre playing on a version such as 1.8 you can have q much better experience than with sodium because sodium isnt even on 1.8

It's one person updating it. I don't get why not make it open source at this point since it's free anyways and he or she is not making money out of it. So with this knowledge locked and tech advancing faster than the mod creator can even comprehend, it will eventually die. You see mods are done in groups and also I believe mod loader like fabric started updating their mods for snapshots ready for new minecraft release. That's why it's already available few hours or days unlike optifine that takes months and sometimes half a year. So yeah, I'm not saying he or she should make the code public but if the project is monetized or lock through patreon, maybe this person updating optfine can hire other modders to help speed up the work but yeah, at the end of the day, I believe optifine will be completely irrelevant and that mod creator will eventually get bored when it's not getting any traction and it will be lost forever.
