Bill, you might be able to answer a question for me.......some people concentrate too much on highlighting "avoid notes" etc. As in when using modal scales?
To be honest I'm sure I hit notes at times which may be termed avoid notes but I dont care to be honest. Am I correct in saying some people are very academic about things like this?
So far these videos have already been so helpful. I’ve been playing for a few years but have only learned sheet music. I’ve recently got into jazz and wanted to start playing some and your videos have been so helpful.

I was having trouble with the blue scale improvisation exercise, but your suggestion of starting simple and then moving out seriously made it so much easier :) huge thanks for this video.
