What Makes a Responsible Journalist ? | Media Ethics | Explained

"With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" said Uncle Ben in Spiderman and this dictum is more than true for the field of journalism. Journalism and Media have gained enormous power in the last 6 decades. It has exposed some of the biggest scams in history of humankind, such as the Watergate and the Pentagon Papers. In India as well, media has had some huge sucesses and hence this inherently puts the Indian Media in a great place of responsibility.

Responsible Journalism happens when journalists follow media ethics. The five principles of Truth, Fairness, Objectivity, Sensitivity and Privacy are sacrosanct for a journalist and should be adhered to the most possible extent.
