I visited this city after a last minute decision due to weather, but only for a couple hours. I didn't know of its history until a week later when in Berlin, its now on my list of cities to revisit with more open eyes.

I visited the Documentation Center a couple of years ago while on a trip and found this museum fascinating and informative. Although I remembered from my school history classes about Hitler, Nazi Germany and Fascism this Documentation Center was a real “eye opener” for most people. I completely understand the “importance” of “teaching” others what should NEVER happen again in this world; a takeover of a nation by a madman is the worst thing that could happen to any country.

My parents visited Germany for a month before the war. What's remarkable was that dad was a USAAC officer. He was welcome everywhere he went. He visited the newly opened terminal at Tempelhof and met counterparts in the German air force. At the time he was always dressed in civilian clothes. He did visit the American consulate. He loved anything German, having studied the language at West Point. I could go on, but for now that's all.
