First, a little background. Shortly after the loss of the American colonies by the crown, England found a new appetite for being someone else’s colonial overlords. In 1788, England sent her first fleet of ships to modern-day Australia. When Captain Arthur Philip first planted the Union flag in Sydney Cove, Australia was set to just be another run-of-the-mill colony in an empire in which the sun never set. The Industrial Revolution made sure to change that. With the agrarian society of England becoming more mechanized, fewer people were needed to work the farms of the English countryside.

Why you wouldn't survive life in an Australian Penal Colony,

"You board a vessel. You see “Neptune” inscribed on the wooden hull. This ship will later be known as “The Death Ship”. This is your home for the next four months. This is where your first, real troubles begin. You, and 299 other poor souls, are loaded onto this ship and into cramped cargo bays."
