Your Patreon button in the video doesn't seem to work, it just pauses the video. Or maybe I am misunderstanding your comment on it.

I probably would not use Puppy Linux. As a new Linux user, I am keying in on Kubuntu.

Great videos, thank you! but i have a problem, after i insatalled the bioniclinux, the wifi doesn't work, always displaying no interface , maybe there is no wireless driver. So would you please tell me how to install wireless driver in puppylinux? My wireless
card is 'broadcom bcm4360 820.11n'. Thank you very much.

Good to see some love for Puppy. The file manager is kinda clunky, you can't even copy/paste multiple files there, for some reason only the Move option can do that. If they do some polish around the edges it would be viable to run this as a daily driver. Also XenialPup is able to accept DEB packages if I recall correctly, but I never spend too much time using it to know if it's usable or not, I just leave Puppy for emergency situations since the ISO is so small.

Try typing guvcview rather than gucview. The application, along with other popular options, can be more easily accessed from the quickpet desktop icon or menu entry. The GTKCam app is for accessing photos on a digital camera.

I use bionicpup64 on all of my desktop computers. It has been my main go to distro for years. Nothing comes close regarding functionality. I like simplicity. Crunchbang ++ is my other main distro. What I do is create an ext4 partition on my HD specifically for puppy. I have multiple save folders as well in case something happens to my current save folder I just reboot and select another save folder. So easy. OSB-Studio is in the puppy repos as well as a host of other goodies. What you have to do is update Puppy Package manager first. When in PPM, click on the tool icon and select update database, Update now. That's it.

I have tried many other distros and nothing even approaches what this little gem of a distro can do. So easy with so many options! Love using it!!!

Puppy Linux got me out of a big mess, because I could not access my other operating systems (Windows, Linux (Ubuntu and Mint)). I needed to get drivers so I can fix certain problems that was causing the crash. Once I fixed it, I was back on these other system. Building anything on the puppy platform was just pointless to me. But I'm glad it was there.

instead of SFS file call the files, squash files, Squash file system. hey hey. Berryboot for raspberry pie uses them.

You do need to check ALL the repositories individually, when looking for an app.

I tried three times to install bionic pup on a legacy bios T61. Never got it to boot correctly. I am sure i am messing up some settings with the grub install.

While Bionic and Slackpup are structured much the same, and Win95-style layout and iconography may be off=putting to some, my greatest Puppy experiences have been with my AMD-K6/II at 450MHz dual-booting Pup431 (frugal install), Freedos 1.3, and WinME, and loaded with 512M sdram. This antique is the computer I use for internet radio, and it's done that ever since I picked it up at the Sally Ann for $5 - complete with ageing 7.5G IDE containing WinME, which I promptly scrubbed and re-installed - back in 2004. Both Freedos and Puppy work flawlessly, and both OS's even handle .mp4 video either by using gXine in Puppy or Mplayer when running Freedos. Using DOSEMU within Puppy431 to access the FREEDOS partition gives awesome emulation results as well. Another of Puppy's strengths is its hardware detection; it's able to catch a NTFS external SATA hd that Windows refuses to see, and lets me retrieve the files with profound ease. The only difficulties I've run into with Puppy have been due to letting the .sfs file grow beyond 1.5G. Always back up your frugal and flash installs because they can go wonky.

good review. I have a real soft spot for Puppy...I forgot all about the running as root but tbh i guess 99.9% of people run as a single user so it makes sense to be lie "god" on your machine
Puppy IMHO has in various incarnations been VERY easy to install and some versions can run straight out of the box so to speak identifying all sorts of weird hardware.
I think though you just have to install EVERYTHING you are likely to need when you install the distro

So i also want to install a lightweight linux distro on an old asus netbook to use to teach my child. I want to be able to run python and a minecraft server. We were working on a rasberry but it was under powered and i thought this old netbook might be a step up hardware wise. Do you have any suggestions?
