Would the cemetery have any records about who purchased the grave? That may help you solve the "why here" mystery.

Another resident of Ocean View Cemetery is General A.D. McRae who built Hycroft Manor. He was a World War 1 hero, businessman and politician. Who might want to do a story on him too sometime.

Maybe he just liked the area and was happy there.

A puzzler indeed, although in fairness a lot of people probably wonder how they ended up in Burnaby! His marker is very low-key considering his relative fame. Interesting filmography - even costarred with Yvonne De Carlo (from the green pastures of the West End) in the twilight of his career.

I'm guessing In Los Angeles his friends & agent didn't know how to contact his relatives in the U.K. so not knowing what to do with him they contacted the Canadian embassy (due to Canada being apart of the British commonwealth) then sent his body Canada to figure it out, they didn't, so they just buried him in Burnaby.

He went to McGill University in Montreal and was married at the time of his death,so I assume he had Kin of some type who had settled in Vancouver at that time

Interesting. I don't know the answer to your question about Miles Mander, but I enjoy your videos. BTW, the word is "wuthering," not "withering," as in the novel "Wuthering Heights," by Emily Bronte. Thank you.

He was briefly consodered as a double for British General Bernard Montgomery "Monty" during WW2 due to a striking resemblance. But Mander was significantly taller so they never used him for this. He was also part of the repeat company of actors that made the Sherlock Holmes films with Nigel Bruce and Basil Rathbone. Mander is in several of those films.
