Star Trek: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Martok

Great character and played superbly by JG Hertzler. He's such a rounded, interesting character with so much depth and besides Worf, he's probably my favourite Klingon. If it wasn't for other fantastic characters, such as Garak and Dukat, he would be my favourite non-main cast character in DS9.

Martok is one of my absolute favorite characters in all of Trek. J.G. Hertzler crusher it. I was so stoked when they brought the character back in the Dominion prison camp, and then later in game form on Lower Decks. So much nuance, humor, and a fantastic leader.

You can't drop a reference to Kling Bling and not provide a link! I've searched high and low and can't find the album online. I need to hear it!!

Normally I dislike videos like this. After all, anyone can write any BS into existence for fictional characters. I mean, you could say Martok is Luke's REAL father because [reasons someone arbitrarily made up].
However, Hertzler's performance in this role was so perfect. He made Martok the ideal and archetypal Klingon. One of my favorite characters, and I just had to watch.

The fact they actually went along with his ideas of not being too much of a "generic klingon" was a good move, after all, everyone's different, and was something he did with playing Advocate Kolos, Archer's legal counsel in Enterprise, not all klingons are battle-hungry lunatics... :)

The Left Hand of Destiny is a great story. I can't tell you how many times I've reread it. Martok is one of my all-time favorite characters.

And I bet Martok was very popular with people of Nordic descent in the Federation. It's like Odin, back from Asgard.

I met Hertzler at a con in 2017 and he was astounding. A true gentleman and extremely intriguing. I spoke in length with him about DS9 and the other actors. He even sang the Klingon song that he and Worf sang at Worfs bachelor party. One of the best experiences of my life.

All I can say.
Is that I loved that character of martok From the very first time they ever brought him on deep space 9 All the way through the last episode of deep space 9.
