I don't think grown adults understand just how hard divorce is on the kids...when I was told to choose which parent I wanted to live with I chose to live with my dad because my mom was an alcoholic and when your mom says to your dad that "I don't have time for our son anymore" and how is a little kid supposed to react to those harsh words? my parents got divorced in 1985 and 36 years later I still haven't forgotten those words

God knows your the last of the gone by Era arist who truly care about this genre as well of the people who support it. 3-4 years ago I dated a single mother things ended pretty badly I was in a really really dark place. I was working an a vinyl window plant. We where allowed speakers on the line. My co worker happened to play this song I broke down crying and was given the day off by my boss once I gave his the news on everything. It felt so good to be able to shed those tears. It helped me get back to the road of recovery. Now I'm a happily employed Mechanic with an ASE working on another. God bless and keep your Mr. Keith.

After my momma and deddy got a divorced uo until the day he passed away, we’d sing this song as a duet.
