I'm kinda sad to say DeNiro hasn't done anything great for awhile now, IMO obviously. He puts out a lot of C+, B- kinda movies that are decent, okay, or amusing and he'll appear in a role a step above a cameo in what I would say are some actually really good movies ('American Hustle' is an example I'd use). But overall, he's just picking up checks ... and why shouldn't he? He's done amazing work in a lot of other movies in the past, he's not a celebrity in the sense of someone that just has to be everywhere and making people know he exists and is super relevant, so yeah. What he's doing now is not going to detract from his better work or his legacy.

Be honest Alonso. If De Niro called you to appear in his next movie you wouldnt say no or would you?

Everyone saying De niro this or De Niro that. The director of the movie did Ray and won oscar. Why people dont go gaga over that, like wtf is this director doing, why is he even casting De Niro then if he is washed up.

There is nothing wrong with "passion project" movies. Schindler's List was a passion project, Apocalypse Now was a passion project, The Nightmare Before Christmas was a passion project, Rocky (the original) was a passion project. Passion projects are no more likely to be good or bad than any other film.

Oh... got my hopes up for it to about the Comedian from watchmen.

The thumbnail on "The Space Between Us" looks like a guy getting a blowjob, which makes the title thought-provoking.

I don't know if Alonso ever reads comments but when he went on to imitate some of the supporting cast with "Of Course I'll be in your movie! But reading the script? Why would I do that?" I was literally laughing out so loud that I spilled my tea all over the floor. Damn you! haha

I think it's time to stop being so appalled that Robert De Niro's career has taken such a downturn in the 21st century. Every artist has their prime years and very few do worthwhile work into their 60s. He's 73 now, he had a legendary run in the seventies, eighties, and nineties. He clearly just doesn't care about his reputation anymore, or he's going senile, and most likely he just wants to keep working and keep getting paid. After so many stinkers in a row, it's time we collectively took a step back, took a deep breath, and recognized that this situation isn't getting any better, no matter how much opprobrium we heap onto him. He's made his choice, take the money and run rather than completely disappear from public consciousness.

BAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! I was totally pumped to see this movie, and was supposed to see it a week ago. Now I am glad I couldn't... I will wait til it's on TBS... And there is literally nothing else to watch, not even Gigli? ;)

Unsure how Alonso grades the movies, as he just gave "The Comedian" a 5, the same for "Rogue One", one day he will need to explain his grading scale.  If different scale for each genre.

We can see that the money spent on education was a waste...sad...maybe garbage collection would be a better pick this is not your best choice...get a real job.

DeNiro worked in the mild humor/relationship movie The Intern, but things like Meet the Fockers and Dirty Grandpa have him trying so desperately to shock that he forgets to come through with a fleshed out character.

I keep thinking that the character in "Raging Bull" became a washed-up comic, right?

What happened to De Niro's career?

I know some heavy movie-goers who went to this and said it was absolutely terrible. I searched it in our local paper a day later to find it had already left the theaters. THEN I found out it was DiNiro in the lead role. So disappointing. Apparently there's just endless, cheap/predictable swearing in it. I kinda thought Andrew Dice Clay made that boring about 30 years ago...

This movie was not trying to be funny, in fact its about the tragedy and the struggle comedians face when they get reduced to tropes and are not allowed to be genuine. Why you'd assume its supposed to be funny is beyond me, its not as bad as you make it out to be.

I think they tried too hard to capture the modern day cold harsh funny style of comedy that exists today

a five is to high there was zero chemistry between these charcters and the love story made no sense don't give this a pass because you like the actors.

This was a good film genuinely enjoyed it
