Thanks for adding this. Parker and Stargell have been drawing my interest lately.
ОтветитьLove the old footage
ОтветитьJust got is auto in November. One of my favorite players growing up. Really need to get on the ballot.
ОтветитьYep!
Ответить40 plus years later, and still waiting to get back to the World Series. Maybe this is the year 😮
ОтветитьThanks for sharing those highlights, truely a great player.
ОтветитьThis was great to watch while having supper that throw to get Murray out was beautiful
ОтветитьI really needed some awesome background noise, and this was amazing!
ОтветитьGreat stuff! Thank you for the video. I really enjoyed it.
ОтветитьYou’re on a mission
ОтветитьHall of Fame voters should be forced to watch this every day until they die.
ОтветитьFun 😊
ОтветитьLoved watching Dave Parker throw.
ОтветитьI love that the opening scene is big Dave trying to find room for his nuts in those tights lol
ОтветитьI had a small collection of his cards. He wasn't big here so I didn't add many cards. The biggest Cobra growing up was Gi Joe Cobra Commander and the Hot Wheels Cobra Mustang. Sorry.
ОтветитьParker was great! Also reminded me of Jim Palmer's smooth pitching motion, and just how great all around Gary Carter was. And the forgotten sluggers not named McGwire & Canseco on those late 80's Oakland teams Dave & Dave! Thanks John
ОтветитьScott Rolen top MVP voting was 4. Dave Parker was top 3 in MVP voting four times. I hate these WAR analytics. Even Keith Hernandez won an MVP.
ОтветитьI really never knew that they had the snake charmer music coming up to the plate music or how big the nickname really was !! Thanks for sharing John !!!
ОтветитьAlways fun to see Tippy Martinez. Great stuff John, I always enjoyed watching Parker.
ОтветитьLove that organ intro for Cobra. Also forgot how awful the field was at Memorial Stadium.
ОтветитьNL MVP, 2x NL batting champion, 7x all-star. Over 2700 hits 339 HR's and 1,400 plus RBI's. It's a shame the Cobra isn't in the MLB Hall of fame.
ОтветитьI just pulled a Topps aurograph Dave Parker 33/50.
Thanks for this documentary he retired when I was 1 years old its great to learn about these old story's.
Happy Birthday Mr. Dave Parker! Great highlight upload. That is a 37/37 bat. Hope to see him in the HOF.
ОтветитьThe ‘79 Series was great. Seems like yesterday. No shift in those days.
ОтветитьNothing against Baines , but c’mon! Parker>Baines
ОтветитьAs a Pittsburgh Pirate fan I am biased - but Parker is HOF worthy IMO.
ОтветитьThank you for this. The Cobra was my favorite player when I was a kid.
ОтветитьHow do we know that the FBI to countinue the seeds of racism in this country sent those letters. Why ? If you can keep people fighting each other, they can be blinded to what is really happening
ОтветитьThe throw on a LINE! / This was beautiful thank you.
ОтветитьAs as side; That Baltimore pitching staff had to be the best ever,Palmer, Flanagan, McGregor, Martinez and I think Stone. And the array of Pirates uniforms, different jersey pants combos too
ОтветитьMurphy, Concepcion and Parker…need to be in the Hall.
ОтветитьI think people forget how great of a player Dave Parker was. Not only did he put up great numbers in Pittsburgh, but during a time when most people thought he was washed up he again put up great numbers when he played for the Cincinnati Reds. He also had a cannon for an arm out in Right field.
ОтветитьI got to spend a whole day with Dave in the summer of 2000. My hometown hosted a Little League World Series that year and there were several retired ball players that came to sign autographs during those two weeks. I'm a police Officer and had just began working then and was assigned to all the players for security. Growing up in the 1970's the Pirates were my favorite team and still are. My favorite players back then were Dave, Willie, and Roberto. Dave lived close to my hometown and I got to drive to his residence and pick him up and take him to the event and then back home later that night. I'm 6-1 260 pounds and work out all the time. When he answered the door he said "I have security?" and I said "I don't think you need it." He made me look like a 10 year old kid standing next to him and ironically that's how I felt at the time, hanging out with one of my idols. He was super cool and invited me into his house. On the drive to the event he noticed a duffle bag in the back seat and asked what that was for. I said I have a confession to make, I'm a huge Pirate and Dave Parker fan, It has Pirate and Dave Parker memorabilia in it that I had since I was a kid. He signed every thing I had and I still have all of it today. The pictures that we took that day he let me mail to him and he signed them and returned them to me. I even told him that I learned how to bat left handed because of him. My little league coach would get pissed at me for trying to bat left handed but I did it anyway. I hit a triple in a game once and when the game was over my coach congratulated me on the hit but told me to never do it again. Dave thought that was hilarious and we talked about how professional athletes influence kids. I never talked to him again after that night but I will never forget it. Its a shame he is not in the Hall of Fame but hopefully that will happen for him and his family. Be well Cobra and thanks for those memories of when you played and that awesome day in the summer of 2000.
ОтветитьThe Cobra should be in the Hall of Fame! ⚾️🏴☠️
ОтветитьI was a Big Red Machine fan as a kid, but i liked that 1979 Pirates team. Got to see Parker with the Reds a few games in the mid 1980's. The Cobra was an immense talent and had style!
Ответитьparker was a monster
Ответить❤❤❤💔
